6063 aluminium alloy is often referred to as an architectural alloy and finds use in the production of intricate extrusions.

OVERVIEW

With an aesthetically pleasing finish and high corrosion resistance, the alloy is readily suited to welding and can be easily anodised. Commonly supplied in the T6 temper, the alloy offers good formability in the T4 delivery condition.

 

MEDIUM STRENGTH

6063 commercial aluminium alloy offers medium strength and high corrosion resistance. With an aesthetically pleasing finish, the material is used in the fabrication of intricate extrusions used as finishing products. 6061 or 6082 should be considered if greater strength is required.

Advantages/Disadvantages

Aluminum 6063 has a number of advantages, namely good electrical conductivity, good extrudability, and a high-quality surface finish. When heat-treated, it offers good corrosion resistance. It can also be anodized in the T5, T52, T32, T54, and T6 tempers.

Its main disadvantage is that it has a poor strength-to-weight ratio.
