The 6082 aluminum alloy belongs to the 6000 or 6xxx class of wrought aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloys. While it is not heavily included in ASTM (North American) standards, it is one of the most well-known alloys in its series (with alloys 6005, 6061, and 6063). Although it is not utilized in casting as a wrought alloy, it is usually manufactured by extrusion, cold and hot stamping, and rolling.
