Quality Issues Of EN AW-7075 Aluminum Plates

Common Quality Issues of EN AW-7075 Aluminum Plates

Plate shape quality
The shape of aluminum alloy plates is a key indicator of flatness performance. During the manufacturing process, uneven local stress may cause surface unevenness. For high-requirement products such as ASTM B209 7075 T651 aluminum plates, a stretching process is required to release internal stress and prevent deformation after cutting.

Appearance quality
Due to the characteristics of aluminum plate production, appearance-related defects are relatively common. These may include warping, waviness, dents, scratches, and edge cracking.

Dimensional quality
Dimensional accuracy-covering length, width, and thickness-is subject to increasingly strict tolerance requirements from customers to improve yield rates. If the plate dimensions fail to meet specified tolerances, the product may be considered non-conforming.

Surface quality
Surface defects of aluminum alloy plates may include sticking, roll marks, stripes, oxidation spots, black streaks, and corrosion.

Application Fields of GNEE Hot-Selling 7075 Aluminum Plate Series

Application of 7075 O Aluminum Plate

7075-O aluminum plate refers to EN AW-7075 aluminum in the annealed condition. Compared with other 7075 tempers, it has the lowest strength but the highest ductility, along with good corrosion resistance and acceptable strength.

7075-O temper aluminum plates are commonly used in aerospace, military, and automotive applications.

Application of 7075 T6 Aluminum Plate

7075 T6 aluminum plate is EN AW-7075 aluminum in the T6 temper. This temper is achieved through solution heat treatment followed by artificial aging until standard mechanical properties are met. The hardness of 7075 T6 aluminum alloy reaches approximately 150 HB, classifying it as a high-hardness aluminum alloy. It offers excellent mechanical properties, including good ductility, high strength, strong toughness, and superior fatigue resistance.

Typical applications include:

Aerospace: Manufacturing of aircraft components, gliders, and aerospace vehicles

Transportation: Shipbuilding, bicycle components, and related parts

Industrial use: Tools, instrument gears, fuse components, worm gears, keys, regulating valve parts

Military: Missile components, rifle upper and lower receivers, extension tubes, and precision rifle parts (such as the M16)

Application of EN AW-7075 T651 Aluminum Plate

7075 T651 aluminum plate exhibits one of the highest tensile strengths among aluminum alloys and is the hardest temper within the 7000 series. It features high tensile strength, excellent fatigue performance, good machinability, resistance welding capability, and corrosion resistance.

EN AW-7075 T651 aluminum plate is a lightweight material with a semi-smooth or polished surface. GNEE supplies polished 7075 T651 aluminum plates with a bright surface finish.

This alloy is primarily used for high-quality, high-performance, and high-strength machining materials, making it especially suitable for aerospace applications. It is also widely used for aircraft components, gears, instrument shafts, mold manufacturing, turbines, and other precision parts. Customized processing is available for applications in marine, motorsports, and commercial-grade components.

Application of 7075 T73 Aluminum Plate

Compared with T6, the T73 temper offers lower strength but greater flexibility, making it more suitable for long-term, high-stress service environments. To achieve this temper, the alloy is first heat-treated and aged to T6, then further over-aged. While this process slightly reduces strength, it significantly improves durability and corrosion resistance.

The toughness of 7075 aluminum decreases as temperature drops; therefore, T73 is better suited for extremely low-temperature environments, such as cryogenic applications.

7075 T73 aluminum plates are commonly used for components that require higher flexibility or are exposed to continuous, high stress. Typical applications include aircraft wing bases, gears, valve components, shafts, and landing gear.

Application of 7075 T7351 Aluminum Plate

7075 T7351 aluminum is the EN AW-7075 alloy in the T7351 temper. This temper is obtained through solution heat treatment, stress relief, and artificial over-aging for stabilization. T7351 provides enhanced resistance to stress corrosion cracking. It is a high-strength aerospace alloy with excellent low-temperature performance.

The alloy offers good machinability, excellent surface finishing characteristics, and high hardness. It can be strengthened through heat treatment and/or cold working. However, it is difficult to weld and has sensitivity to stress corrosion cracking.

7075 T7351 aluminum plates are widely used in aircraft manufacturing and other aerospace applications where corrosion resistance is not the primary requirement. This alloy delivers the highest strength among conventional screw-machine aluminum alloys. Its superior stress corrosion resistance also makes 7075 T7351 a suitable alternative to alloys such as 2024, 2014, and 2017 in many critical applications.
