3003 Aluminum Data Sheet pdf

What is Aluminium Alloy 3003 / 3003A

What is 3003-H18 Aluminum Sheet?

The 3003 aluminum alloy is a popular choice due to its manganese addition, which imparts enhanced properties. The "H18" indicates its temper condition. In the H18 temper, the aluminum sheet has undergone a series of cold working processes that substantially increase its strength and hardness while maintaining decent formability. It's a non-heat-treatable alloy, meaning its mechanical properties are achieved mainly through cold working and not thermal treatments.

  • 3003 H14 aluminum sheet

3003 h14 aluminum sheet has good processability and can be deep drawn, spun, welded or brazed. This aluminum sheet is widely used for fairing and baffle plating. The ultimate strength is 21000 PSI and the shear strength is 14000 PSI.

  • 3003 H18 aluminum sheet

3003 H18 aluminum plate belongs to the aluminum plate that has not been processed after rolling and cold rolling, so it belongs to the aluminum plate that is not quenched and processed. It has a relatively short delivery short.

  • 3003 H24 aluminum sheet

3003 H24 aluminum plate occupies 80% of the production of 3003 aluminum sheet. After annealing process, 3003 H24 aluminum plate can be bent at 90 degrees without cracking. Therefore, 3003 H24 aluminum plate is widely used.

  • 3003-O aluminum plate

The production and processing steps of 3003-O aluminum sheet are similar to the production process of 3003 H24 aluminum plate. However, the quenching time of the 3003-O aluminum plate is long, and the production process is also relatively long. It is more suitable for stamping molds because it is softer.

FAQ

Q: Can you Harden 3003 Aluminum?

A: Aluminum 3003 is a "wrought" alloy because it is comprised of less than 4% alloying elements. This is in comparison to "cast" alloys that contain up to 22% alloying elements. There are two kinds of wrought alloys, heat-treated or work-hardened. 3003, like the other 3xxx alloys, as well as 5052, another common alloy that can sometimes be used interchangeably with 3003, is work-hardened. As a work-hardened alloy, aluminum 3003 is also frequently described as non-heat-treatable. Work hardening uses mechanical deformation like rolling or hammering to change the structure of the metal to be stronger and less ductile.

Q: Can You Weld 3003 Aluminum?

A: 3003 aluminum is readily welded with conventional methods. The filler rod is typically aluminum 1100. When welding 3003 to other aluminum alloys, such as 5052, 6061, or 6062, the filler rod should be 4043 aluminum.

Q: Can You Bend 3003 Aluminum?

A: One of the most beneficial properties of aluminum is its formability. Bending is one of the main ways to form metal and bending aluminum is both useful and cost-effective. Some aluminum alloys are more suited to bending than others. Bending depends upon a few factors, including formability, thickness and bend radius, and percentage of elongation. When considering all three, 3003 aluminum is an excellent, arguably the best among other alloyed grades, candidate for bending. Between moderate strength, good cold workability, and high elongation, it offers one of the biggest differences between yield and tensile strength, making it suitable for bending.
